[Properties] White crystals. Non-hygroscopic. Bitter taste. Hexagonal prism crystals can be obtained from aqueous solution. Relative density 2.50. Melting point 529.5°C. Slightly soluble in water and hot ethanol. Begins to decompose upon melting. Forms fluorides and borates when melted with alkali metals and carbonates. Toxic!
[Uses] Used as a flux in welding and brazing, as a raw material for producing boron-containing alloys in aluminum-magnesium casting, and as a filler in thermosetting resin-bonded grinding wheels. Purifies slag from light metals during the welding and fusion of silver, gold, and stainless steel. Also used as a reagent in electrochemical processes.
[Packaging] Packed in plastic woven bags lined with polyethylene plastic bags, 25kg/bag and 1000kg/bag.
